Invensys plc Senior Human Resources Manager, Development and Resourcing
April 1998 – present day

Reporting to the Senior VP of Human Resources and based at the Corporate Centre in London.

Managed executive development in both Europe and US (the DEP programmes, with the University of New Hampshire and PA Sundridge Park), including the setting up and running of the Invensys Global Leaders programme, forming a partnership of international business schools led by Cranfield University.

Led the project team to design and facilitate Customer Focused Leadership, a series of leadership development and culture change workshops for the top teams across Invensys.

HR integration activities during the merger and subsequent restructure of BTR and Siebe to form Invensys, developing policy and practice as well as operational employee relations issues during the corporate restructure process.

Provided operational HR support to BTR senior management teams, with a particular focus on European employee relations, executive recruitment and performance management.


Signalling Control U.K. (BTR Rail Group) Personnel Manager
August 1997-April 1998

Signalling Control U.K, a subsidiary of BTR, provided project management for signalling installation from design through to testing and commissioning for the rail industry.

Reporting to the Managing Director, responsible for the HR and training function at SCUK during the transition period during which time this organisation was acquired by and integrated into Westinghouse Signals, part of the BTR Rail Group.

Consultations with the trade unions and active HR management throughout the restructure and redundancy process.


Sears plc Resourcing and Development Manager
August 1996-July 1997

Sears, a UK based, multiple retailer, including Selfridges, Wallis, Warehouse, Richards, Miss Selfridge, as well as the British Shoe Corporation and the Freemans mail order business. Reporting to the Director of HR.

HR Processes including performance management and leadership development projects for the group.

Managed the design and launch of a high profile, cross-divisional graduate training programme.

Selfridges &Co (Sears plc) Human Resources Manager
1991-1996

Managed the provision of a comprehensive human resources service for over 1000 managers and staff (around half of this £250m turnover Oxford Street department store). Responsible for HR for all the support activities (logistics, finance and IT) as well as the fashion teams.

Recruitment, from executive and technical resourcing through to volume recruitment of sales and support personnel.

Manpower and salary planning including individual incentive schemes, bonus plans and team based rewards.

Performance management and employee relations, including setting up and running performance appraisals, extensive involvement with discipline and grievance issues and a lead role representing the company at employment tribunals.

HR management of several redundancy and outsourcing exercises, including all of the communications and logistics as well as consultations with individuals and trade unions.

Responsible for industrial relations activities including annual salary and benefits negotiations with recognised trade unions.
