Cable & Wireless 2005 – Current
Vice President Project & Programmes Cable & Wireless Network Services
A large Oil & Gas customer expressed to the company that they were unhappy with the management of the strategic relationship thru professional services. As this customer is primarily based in the Netherlands I was asked to step in, being one of the few senior managers in Europe who remained. For my previous role I defined that this was better suited under Group IT and because I was required more and more 5 days a week in Bracknell, UK I decided to take this role.
In the role I’m accountable for the following:
· Cable & Wireless HR management for the 12 staff (US, Europe, UK, AsiaPacific) we have seconded to the customer.
· Fix the relationship with the customer.
· Increase the number of staff by end of March 2006 to 18 (after the reintegration)
· Reintegrate 4 staff back into Cable & Wireless
· Potentially integrate 2 staff into the customer
· Working with the sales account team and create the relationship that wasn’t there
· Work with professional services on other strategic telecommunications solutions for the customer
· Manage the 2 million GBP strategic relationship
Transfer the 12 staff from Professional Services into Network Services, as that is where the alignment is.

Cable & Wireless 2004 – 2005
Vice President NSS/OSS Development and Management. The C&W Network Services group is moving to a true shared services solution and is accountable for delivery of Network Management solutions for the network layers from Infrastructure (Submarine and Satellite), Terrestrial Transmission, Frame Relay and ATM, Public IP (Internet), Private IP (IPVPN QoS). Additionally delivery of BSS Systems for C&W NS, varying from Trouble Ticket, Billing, Reporting. First and foremost task this year is streamline and integration of the European and UK OSS/NSS groups that used to be separate entities. Delivery of 3rd and engineering support to 1st and 2nd line operations functions. Integration of various installations of Micromuse Netcool, SMARTS InSight, Infovista, HPOV, TeMIP and existing legacy solutions.
· Budget accountable for about 17M GBP
· Integration of a team spread across UK, EU and US.
· Develop/Design/Implement the roadmap of NSS & OSS systems and work with the process redesign teams to implement to full business change.
· Roadmap, Architecture & Strategy for NSS/OSS landscape and linkages to BSS.
· Systems & Tools development for Managed Network Services
· 3rd and Engineering level support and maintenance
· OSS / ERP / EAI architecture development for large customer.
Specific development for customers (Finance/Oil & Gas) with regards to Managed Network Services solutioning.

Cable & Wireless 2003 –2004
Vice President Network Service Solutions with C&W Network Services (Global Network Services). Accountable for setting up internal shared services selling and marketing unit as well as delivery of plan for filling up international submarine and satellite bandwidth. The former Vice President Global Operations Engineering Services retired and the Operations function was placed under the Network Operations Center unit and the commercial arm was placed under myself.
· Delivered Menu of Services and pricing from which Cable & Wireless Group companies could pick the solutions they needed from the Shared Services center. This varied from Network Operations Center services to Operational Change Management to Submarine and Satellite engineering and consultancy projects.
· Accountable for the communications function within C&W Network Services.
· Delivered GBP 1.5M additional revenue on funds already classified as bad debt.
· Several legal activities and participation in Joint Venture discussions.
· With virtual team of Planning, Wholesale sales and Operations brought C&W back into the bandwidth market.
In November 2003 I was asked to perform the role of Country Director Netherlands. The country director in C&W is not a business manager role but a governance and policy role. The person is accountable for implementation of local laws and regulations that have to do with Occupational Health, Safety and Risk. Is accountable that the local company complies to local laws and regulations

Cable & Wireless 2002 –2003
Vice President Service Creation/Product Development – within Global Product Management
Primary accountabilities:
· Develop an integrated predictable Service Creation/Product Development group
· Build directly managed team of 13 people
· All product development/service creation for IP Convergence & Connectivity products (including but not limited to IPVPN QoS, VoIP, Global Roaming Exchange)
· Drive change into the quote-to-cash processes for the products to reduce cost base of products
· Business ownership of system development for supporting products
· Deliver solutions/services that allow C&W to obtain return on their global investments
· Understand IP Convergence & Connectivity Customer and Market demand
· Set up and manage cross-functional teams of all other area’s in the business
· Analysis based on sales and market information of customer needs and define with product management priority for development.
· Work with partners and customers on their priority needs.
Owner of the 15 Million GBP Product & Service Development budget

Cable & Wireless 2001 – 2002
Promotion to Vice President Global IT Programmes & OSS BSS Integration
Primary Accountabilities:
· Siebel/SAP/Livelink global role out
· Voice/Video global enhancement rollout
· 100M gbp budget (both capex/opex)
· Cost reductions, ensure that the spend was at least 30% less than the 100M
· All global implementation of internal developed systems
· Integration of all IT development/operations that didn’t reside in IT
· Build team of 20 people
· Choice of OSS/BSS Solution
Delivered integrated global hosting quote-to-cash solution based on Vantive – 5 months. Cable & Wireless acquired Digital Island and the customer and hosting management systems had to be integrated. For this role I managed an additional group of people on a virtual management basis

Cable & Wireless 2000 –2001
Promotion to Director Network Support Functions. Same type of work as the previous period but now extended with all layers of the Network in Europe (Transmission/Data-Frame Relay & ATM/Internet IP/Applications and Voice). Additional responsibilities:
· Internal IT in the Network Operations Centers in Europe
· Integration of 20 acquisitions.
· Build a team of 25 people.
· New Product & Services Implementation
· Cost reduction implementation (inclusive downsizing of staff)
· Handed over to new organization per 01 Oct 2001 for business as usual
· Process & System linking in the UK
· Initiation of a using one of the acquired companies system solutions as the solution for Europe.
· Reduction of Outsource & Maintenance contracts in Europe with 30M GBP (team work)
Developing the European OSS/BSS/NSS systems architecture, roadmap and building and delivering the systems

Cable & Wireless 1999 – 2000
IP Business Systems and Processes Implementation Manager in European IP Backbone rollout. Achieved rollout of IP backbone in Europe and the delivery of an Internet Network Operations Center. Accountable for
· Process delivery (Europe only and integrated with UK and US)

· IT systems operations delivery (inclusive maintenance contracts with suppliers)
