Work Experience

2000-01 Investment manager and “executive in residence” at eVerger as independent consultant. eVerger is a $ 100 million joint venture between Aegis Plc. and Warburg-Pincus, a top US venture capital firm; and focuses on early stage investments in e-marketing companies.
· Evaluated investment opportunities, led due diligence and negotiation processes, sought out new potential investment candidates, and participated in building the Firm and its portfolio.

From October 2000 onwards, CEO of Netusability, a London-based start-up, seeded by eVerger, and producing software for online customer experience management testing.
· Established strategy, structure, organization (from scratch to 15 people) in UK and US, processes, location; and led the business development, sales, partnerships functions etc.

1998-00 CEO, Alt om København. AOK is the leading local Internet service for Greater Copenhagen (á la TimeOut.com). Originally a spin-off from SOL (see below), AOK was taken over by Berlingske, Denmark’s biggest newspaper group.
· Planned and led the launch of the company (Hired 45 people, negotiated media partnerships, oversaw launch project, established marketing efforts, etc.).
· Initiated and closed large sales and alliances.
· Built the company to over 2,5 million page views per months, more than 800 local business customers (subscription of micro sites), and a brand recognition exceeding 60%.
· Negotiated Scandinavian licensing agreement with Ticketmaster-CitySearch (US licensing partner), and established Scandinavian strategy. Assisted in launching Swedish organization, AOS (remaining a board member until a subsequent divestment).
· Managed the company through the acquisition by Berlingske, and two subsequent strategy revisions, reorganizations and down-sizings to capture synergies with the new parent.

1997-98 MD of Scandinavia Online A/S - the Danish branch of SOL, Scandinavia’s and one of Europe’s largest Internet portals, listed on Stockholm Stock Exchange. As first man on site,
· Established strategy and organization (eventually 50+ people),
· Negotiated JV’s and partnerships etc
· Participated in Scandinavian leadership of the business.
· Gradually shifted focus to AOK, initially a wholly owned subsidiary of SOL, later spun off.


1992-97 Consultant and engagement manager with McKinsey & Company in Scandinavia.Led a number of projects within media, financial services (asset management and venture capital) and FMCGs; and primarily related to strategy, corporate finance and marketing. Worked mostly in Denmark, Sweden and Finland. Among the projects led at McKinsey were:
· Led strategy process for major Scandinavian media group, involving all top executives and business unit leaders. Main outcome: aggressive thrust into electronic media. Went on to establish best practice marketing effectiveness processes in two business units before supervising an all-company rollout. Typical impact included a rescheduling of 30-40 % of marketing spend, 15-40% improvement in results, and in general, a more output oriented marketing approach.
· Led turn-around efforts of Finnish heavy machinery company, revamping production processes, product development and sales efforts. Went on to oversee a number of change initiatives throughout parent organization. Efforts stopped potentially fatal bleeding.
· Managed the Danish Government’s privatization of an IT company, from establishing the privatization strategy and objectives to acting as de facto investment banker through the auction process and negotiations. Involved extensive government dealings as well as interfacing with contesting US buyers, lawyers etc. Resulted in significantly higher price than Government’s initial target, while also ensuring that the Company would continue as a major employer and leading IT player.
· Led efforts of major Swedish holding company to enter a new business area, and oversaw the implementation of their strategy through acquisition. Involved negotiations with investment bankers, top management and their advisors. Resulted in one of Scandinavia’s largest and most aggressive players in the financial services arena.
· Led turn-around of consumer goods organization. Involved revision of sales efforts, complete overhaul of over-complex product range, and the set up of new central procurement function.
· Worked with small team in establishing the strategy and organization of a new publicly listed Swedish private equity firm (1994).

1987–90 Portfoliomanager with BankInvest (initially in parallel with studies). BankInvest is a leading Scandinavian investment house, not only in mutual funds (unit trusts) but also in venture capital. Left to start MBA studies in the US.
· Managed the publicly listed Scandinavian equity mutual funds (~Euro 75 mill).
· No. 1 performer in its fund category in Denmark 1989.
· Co-leader of institutional sales efforts.

1982-83 Private with The Royal Danish Hussars. Serving as a ”trumpeter” and riding instructor in the Royal Horse Guards, as well as receiving full military training.


Education

1990-92 MBA, Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth College, New Hampshire, USA. Studied general management at the oldest (but one of the smallest) business schools in the US. (According to Wall Street Journal, recruiters ranked Tuck as the no 1 US MBA school in April 2001.)

1987-89 MSc in Economics, Copenhagen School of Business, Denmark. Studied finance, strategy and international business. Top 5% of class.

1984-87 BSc in Economics, University of Odense, Denmark. President of local AIESEC chapter (international exchange organization for business school students). Top 10 % of class.

1983-84 One year of studies at Georgia Southern University, Georgia, USA, on full scholarship through the Georgia Rotary Clubs. GSU has roughly 10,000 students, but is not a top school. Consequently, more a “cultural” than academic experience. President of the International Student Association
