Position as bookkeeper for the subsidiaries in Enschede & Hengelo.
Responsible for all administrative activities.

1977 – 1978 Velcro Europe BV – Subs. of Velcro USA Inc. Boston
Manufacturer of hook & loop tape.
Controller, responsible for all European Financial operations.
Company based in Haaksbergen, Netherlands. This was a European start up operation in 1977. Managed an administrative team of 4 employees.

1979 – 1980 Dijker & Doornbos Accountants – Hengelo
Presently called Coopers & Lybrand. Employed as a Senior Assistant Accountant. About 7 or 8 SME-companies in my portfolio. Main activities were financial consulting & preparation of Balance Sheets & Profit and Loss Statements.

1981 – 1992 MAI Basic Four BV – Amsterdam & Utrecht (Houten)
Subsidiary of MAI Basic Four Inc. – Irvine (CA) USA

1981 – 1985 : Business Unit Manager
Responsible for sales, marketing & software development and support for the target-market of accounting & consulting firms.
Hired in 1981 to penetrate this market. Grown from zero to market-leader in 1985 with 350 customers and a yearly sales-revenue of
US $ 18 million in target market. Business Unit with:
6 account managers
12 software developers
1 product manager
1 software manager
1 sales manager
5 software support specialists
3 secretarial employees

1986 – 1989 : Division Manager
Responsible for sales, marketing, software & services in target markets accounting, government, construction and wholesale companies. Due to success in the accounting market.
Management Team Member of MAI Netherlands
Managing the division with revenue of US $ 31 million (1986) and $ 49 million in (1989). Employees in Division: 1989 in total 78.

1989 – 1992: Director Marketing
Member of Dutch Board of Directors (Management Team Member).
Responsible for all marketing & sales activities.

I left MAI Basic Four in 1992 after proposing a Management Buy Out, together with fellow Directors. USA owner(s) did not agree the Buy Out. Thereafter I lost faith in the future of MAI and left.
Two years later it was sold to Triple P Netherlands (MAI Europe)

1993 – 1997 M.A.N. – Management & Business Consultants.
After leaving MAI with a “golden handshake” I started a consulting company called MAN. Together with a young consultant I consulted software companies in the Netherlands in the strategy how to migrate their company structure and software solutions from character based environments to open windows based software platforms and how to adjust the organization to this process.

1997 - 2001 InterStrat BV – Enschede
CEO of this company. Interstrat developed smart card bases Visitor Access and Convenience Systems, based on biometric technology (finger-, face- and voice recognition) and convenience applications for smart cards and Customer Loyalty Applications, Payment (E-Purse) applications and biometric secured Internet access. In 2000 Interstrat was world breaking news with the installation of these biometric multi-application smart cards systems in 15 large leisure environments in the Netherlands and Belgium.
Interstrat was the first Dutch company with a positive report on the use of biometric based systems from the Registratiekamer. (privacy control institution). Interstrat was nominated for the Dutch Golden Chip Award in 2000 and the International Smart Card Award in 2001.

Interim General Manager.
Asked by shareholders to restructure the company and make the technology profitable. After firing the management and upgraded development and product quality I sold the company to US based technology company.

May2002-November2002
Executive consultant for 2 days a week for Dutch multinational access technology manufacturer.
Redirecting company strategy towards security solutions and focus on key markets. Setting up international distribution channel strategy.

June2002-January 2003
Member of Transfer Centre Consulting Group of University of Twente.
Commission meets once a week for 1 day to discuss business related projects between University and local industry.
My role is to judge the proposals for local ICT projects.
