Skills

I have completed training courses in the Institute of Grocery Marketing Diploma, International Statisticians Course, Project Management, Team Building, Recruitment and Employment Law, Coaching Skills, Performance Management, Change Management, Train the Trainer, Advanced Negotiation Skills, Power of Personal Influence, Dunn & Bradstreet Change Leader Programme Leadership 2000 and Storewars.

I am PC literate and have knowledge of a wide range of software packages including Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project, and have a broad understanding of both mainframe and PC hardware technology, networks and the use of communications facilities.

I am a confident presenter having frequently been required to give both internal and client presentations, often requiring the explanation of complex technical details in laymen’s terms, and occasionally in heated situations where tact and diplomacy are paramount. I have also been chosen to represent the company at several important events, and was a committee member on a number of Client User Groups. I have participated in several European Task Forces, implementing new products, procedures and organisational changes in the U.K. and overseas.

MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

In 1999 I developed the business case for a major product development of ACNielsen’s core service that was subsequently endorsed at European Management level.

Between 1996 and 1997 I set up team-building sessions and improved the working environment and practices leading to an increase in my departments employee satisfaction rating from 32% to 64%.

During 1995/96, in my role as Service Centre Project Manager, I made a significant contribution to the formulation of company strategy and the improvement of working procedures. In particular through the design and implementation of a career development program and employee training plans.

In 1994 I instigated and implemented a replacement product development that yielded an increased operating margin of c£350k.

In addition, during my employment with ACNielsen I have received three international recognition awards.

Languages

I am fluent only in English, although I hold a GCSE qualification in French and have a 'travellers' grasp of Spanish.

Other

PERSONAL QUALITIES

My preferred team role (as measured by the Team Management System Margerison-McCann) is Creator-Innovator with related roles in Thruster-Organiser and Controller-Inspector sectors. Consequently I have strengths in three distinct parts of the Team Management Wheel, something that occurs in less than 1% of people.

Whist I am strong in creative thinking and logical analysis, this is combined with a pragmatic approach, commercial realism and the ability to communicate at all levels, to give an “all-rounder” who finds success in a wide range of responsibilities.

I am an accomplished leader who can inspire others through my breadth of vision, wealth of ideas and my ability to isolate opportunities and present a business case for change.

I am also well presented, and have a professional manner and controlled demeanour, enabling me to remain cool when under pressure.

OTHER INTERESTS

I enjoy driving, holding a full, unendorsed licence and have frequently driven abroad.

My main interest is in travelling, and from April 2000 to July this year I made a second trip around the world, on this occasion concentrating mainly in the regions of South and Central America, areas of particular interest to me that I had insufficient time to visit in my previous trip. In total I have now visited over forty countries worldwide, covering five continents. I passionately believe, through the experiences and challenges faced whilst travelling, I have gained a much deeper understanding and insight on life, and this added knowledge will be invaluable in both my future personal and professional life.
