Work Experience

2008: Burgfonds, commercial real estate development company. Interim as-signment. Perform an assessment of the project portfolio and profes-sionalise the project management process in terms of project phasing, decision documents, decision structure and responsibility structure. Due to an imminent change of control, the project assessment became more of a financial, operational and legal due diligence process. Lips Capital Group gained full control, as consequence of which the rest of the project was cancelled as LCG has its own modus operandi.

2007-2008: Ontwikkelingsbedrijf Gemeente Rotterdam, municipal agency for management and development of real estate, assets > € 2 bln. Interim assignment 7 months. Set up structure and tools for controlling real es-tate development projects, professionalize the project control function and controlling of runaway projects.

2007: PWS Rotterdam, housing corporation, balance sheet total > € 2 B, project development portfolio > € 600 M. Interim assignment, 6 months. Implement an enterprise risk management system. Result: intranet-based system implemented.

2006-2008: TBI Holdings, one of the largest Dutch contractors in housing, general building and installation. Freelance trainer for the Finance courses as a part of the management development programme for

2005: Privately held production and trading company in the furniture industry, Interim assignment as a controller 3 months. Turnaround situation in a cumbersome succession phase. Ambitious new owner. Tasks and responsibilities included:
– assure correct implementation of SAP Business One, integrate the production and trading companies,
– get accounting back on track, clean up general ledger, accounts receivable and accounts payable,
– bring structure to financial process and general office procedures.

2002 - 2004: Heerema Fabrication Group BV. Controller, member of the management team of the operating company Heerema Zwijndrecht BV, (contractor for the off shore oil and gas industry, formerly Grootint BV), turnover > € 100 M., approx. 300 employees.
Tasks and responsibilities:
– get the department (6 ftes) back on track after the controller, the project controller and the head of accounting left the company in a short period of time,
– improve the reporting process and tools to get adequate reporting and meet reporting deadlines again,
– day to day management of the Control & Accounting department (6 employees),
– cash forecasting,
– co-ordinate (international) tax affairs,
– WKA, risk management for sub-contractors wage tax and social security liabilities,
– administrative start up of new business Heerema Silent Bridges BV,
– software selection for the financial and personnel information systems,
– participate in safety coaching programme.

1999 - 2002: HBG Hollandsche Beton Groep NV. Controller Bouw of HBG Bouw en Vastgoed BV (the construction and property development division), turnover > € 1 B, approx. 2,200 employees.
Tasks and responsibilities included:
– integrate consolidation en reporting processes of the three divisions that were clustered into HBG Bouw en Vastgoed,
– functional management of consolidation en reporting tool FDC and several sub administrations,
– co-ordination of operating unit and service unit controllers,
– development and implementation of value based management toolkit on divisional level,
– division project manager for the euro conversion,
– implementation of transition from completed contracts profit taking to percentage of completion,
– sale and lease back of the equipment unit, both real estate and equipment,
– project manager for the redesign of financial processes (preparing for SAP implementation).

1995 - 1999: Royal Netherlands Military Academy. Lecturer at the Faculty of Military Management Sciences department of Organisation, Information and Economics.
Tasks and responsibilities:
– Acting commander for the Introduction to Military Management Sciences, 6 ftes,
– Section co-ordinator Information management,
– lecturing Management and Organisation, Information systems management, Corporate finance and Planning & control.

1995: Royal Netherlands Military Academy. Military service at the department of Organisation, Information and Economics of the Faculty of Military Management Sciences. Tasks and responsibilities included:
– supporting the start up of the Defence Controllers Programme, co-ordination of content and logistics,
