Work Experience

Overview over professional experiences

• Strong international orientated commercial all rounder with particular emphasis on finance and accounting, controlling and personnel
• Management of up to 40 staff members

Major tasks carried out

General Management
- commercial management of local and foreign group companies
- advice to company and group management on commercial matters
- establishment and supervision of foreign branches and group companies
- restructurings, purchases and sales of business units
- consulting on acquisition of companies and operations
- commercial restitution of an insolvent company
- monthly, quarterly and annual group reporting as well as budgeting and special reports

Finance and accounting incl. taxation
- all finance and accounting management functions incl. preparation of annual financial statements according to local GAAP (HGB), IFRS and US GAAP
- introduction of accounting according to IAS/IFRS
-responsibilities for tax returns, claiming subsidies and taxation policies
- budget preparation and analysis of deviations, forecasts and long range planning
- cost accounting/controlling, capital expenditure requests
- company responsible on corporate tax and wage tax audits
- implementation and optimisation of MIS
- management of cash, interest and foreign exchange
- negotiations with banks and authorities
- implementation of new EDP systems (esp. SAP/R3, Hyperion)
- introduction of Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) control procedures

Personnel
- management of personnel department including payroll
- negotiations with works council
- labour law incl. dealing with legal disputes
- creation and implementation of a plan to for employee participation
- management of a pension fund
- personnel planning and continuous education
- dealing with share option and incentive plans

General services
- responsibility for legal affairs incl. all contracts, protection of intangible property and insurances
- project management for finding a suitable property and building thereon a workshop and offices as well as high class conference and training facilities
- general administration incl. car pool as well as facility management

Auditing
- management of several audit teams on statutory audits of companies and groups operating in various different markets, being different in size and legal form
- special audits
- professional consulting of all regional audit offices in accounting and audit matters
- co-ordination and own contributions to comments of The South African Institute of Chartered Accountants
- contributions to internal and external publications
- planning and participation of quality control reviews
- consulting on publications required by The Stock Exchange on purchase or disposal of companies or operations


Education

Becoming a member of “THE SOUTH AFRICAN INSTITUTE OF CHARTERED ACCOUNTANTS” as “CHARTERED ACCOUNTANT (SA)” after having studied on a part time and full time basis
at University of Cape Town and through a correspondence university in South Africa

Graduated as “DIPLOM-KAUFMANN” Degree in business science)

Graduated from WIRTSCHAFTSGYMNASIUM (commercial high school), Göppingen, Germany
