As Vice President Global Sourcing, providing leadership for strategy, planning and execution of Advanta’s Business process and IT offshoring initiatives. Based in US and India (Hyderabad).

WACHOVIA Corporation, Charlotte, NC 2001 – 2007
$23 billion leading global financial services corporation

As Senior Vice President, IT Global Sourcing (’05-07), lead overall program management of Wachovia’s IT Offshoring efforts working with Cognizant, IBM and Infosys. As the IT enterprise leader, responsible for coordination and program management of all IT activities across CIO organizations in support of Wachovia’s BPO program with Genpact. Selected by Senior Management to lead Wachovia’s eSourcing Client Model (eSCM-CL) Management Program in collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University.

- Established an IT Global Sourcing Program Office and program management capability across Wachovia’s CIO and CTO organizations.
- Achieved annual run-rate savings of more than $30 million, and additional cost avoidance savings exceeding $20 million.
- Led pilot of Carnegie Mellon’s eSourcing Management Client Model (CL) framework. Gained senior management support to leverage the framework for capability and process improvement efforts.

As Senior Vice President, Outsourcing Governance(’04-’05), initiated and established an Outsourcing Governance Program Office for the enterprise. Directed Wachovia’s outsourcing governance strategy, process implementation and enterprise-wide policy analysis program. This program resulted in enterprise-wide policy adjustments in support of Wachovia’s outsourcing and offshoring efforts.

- Built Wachovia’s enterprise outsourcing and offshoring governance framework from scratch.
- Led enterprise-wide policy analysis and adjustment program to enable Wachovia to meet regulatory requirements. Facilitated a proactive approach to outsourcing/offshoring governance.


As Senior Vice President, VP Risk Management (’02-’04), partnered with key business units including risk management, divisional program offices, and teams leading the development of proactive risk management processes to manage implementation risk across the 18,000 employee Operations Technology and eCommerce division.
- Developed and executed eCommerce merger integration risk oversight processes facilitating the successful launch of www.wachovia.com

WACHOVIA Corporation continued. . .
- Initiated a joint R&D effort with the University of North Carolina, Charlotte to develop quantitative risk scoring models to assess implementation risks associated with individual project and project portfolios. Effort resulted in a risk lens tool that enables a proactive risk-based approach to project execution.

As Vice President, eCommerce Business Performance (‘01-‘02), initiated a comprehensive assessment of the core program/project delivery functions of the eCommerce organization. Articulated business case to key executives, and interacted with risk management, internal audit and human resources.

Led a change and performance improvement initiative and championed global delivery, process reengineering and industry best practices throughout the eCommerce organization. Change and improvement strategy reduced execution risk and included:

- Led teams in the design, development and implementation of the eNavigator Board process as a tool for proactive risk management and continuous process improvement. Leveraged cross-functional process tools to improve delivery performance, and facilitated cross-organizational delivery processes.
- Led the development of eCommerce’s global delivery capability. This included leading offshore pilot such as the Check Image project resulting in state-of-the-art check image capability.

SeraNova (Now part of Cognizant), Phoenix, AZ 1999 – 2001
$1 billion global information technology services provider (Cognizant)

Director of Named Accounts, drove the development, management and profitability of key global accounts such as American Express. Developed over 40 successful global projects for American Express including a financial services portal, ePayment program, and account aggregation services. Successfully grew the American Express account from $10 to $34 million while exceeding revenue targets by 40%. In addition, strategic initiatives allowed American Express to reduce blended onshore/offshore rates from $100 to $50 per hour.

- Advisor to other Fortune 100 financial services companies including consulting and negotiating a major joint venture with a new product development company.

GTE Inc. (Now Verizon), Waltham, Massachusetts 1990 – 1999
$70 billion in US telecommunications and wireless technology (Verizon)

Senior Principal Member of Technical Staff, directed strategic planning, business case development, systems impact analysis and business process re-engineering in support of transformational technology initiatives. Established a cross-functional team of 20 engineers, technology and operations staff. Managed numerous IT and emerging technology projects across various GTE organizations. Selected to represent the technology organization in GTE’s Process and Quality Council to provide critical support to GTE’s organizational transformation.

- Led a $6 million call center software design and cross-departmental integration program that reduced staff, and saved $30 million in overall wireless operational costs.
- Led a multi-year multi-departmental project to support GTE Telephone Operations initiatives to centralize wireline network management operations leveraging distributed technology.
- Developed distributed software architecture to create integrated environment that enabled access of service fulfillment data from multiple legacy systems.
- Established enterprise migration strategy to component based architecture, and led development of specialized decision support components.
- Introduced state-of-the-art R&D in academic and industry communities to enable GTE to attract and retain leading global talent.
