Working from home, selling to the residential user.

Operating as a brokerage, I offer the residential user a number of low cost utility services, including telephone calls (both fixed lines and mobiles), broadband, as well as gas and electricity.

October 2008 – May 2009; Contract Manager (temporary contract) National Health Service – Information Centre, Leeds
• I worked on GP systems procurement activities. This involved the negotiation of a significant Contract Change to 6 existing contracts to incorporate Data Extraction functionality.
• I developed and wrote the CCN, SLA and technical specification for the required functionality in the data extraction requirement.
• I also supported an OJEU process for some new functionality in the query and reporting field.
• Key suppliers that I dealt with were EMIS, Microtest, InPractice, HealthySoft, iSoft and CSC.

April 2008 – July 2008; Principal Category Manager (temporary contract) Vodafone Group, Newbury and Dusseldorf
• Global responsibility for contracts within the GSCM Infrastructure team (hardware and software), though mainly dealing with datacenters in Germany and Italy.
• I renegotiated a 3 year deal for Sun server maintenance in Germany which resulted in a saving of 500K euros per annum against a spend of 3.3M euros per annum.
• I saved 170K euros per annum on Checkpoint support and maintenance by consolidating requirements and sourcing from an alternative supplier.
• Key suppliers that I dealt with were Sun, HP, Cisco,
vmWare, Nokia, Red Hat, Blue Coat, Juniper, Integrity Solutions and Checkpoint.

January 2007 – January 2008; Senior Procurement Officer – IS & Telecoms (temporary contract) National Grid, Warwick
• I provided advice and guidance on the management of mobile communications (voice and data).
• I project managed the tender process for award of new mobile communications contracts compliant with the EU directives on Utilities Procurement.
• I managed the Mobile Communications Project in accordance with the company Category Management process and used the Ariba sourcing tool to run the RFP process.
• The Mobile Communications Project also included a Global RFI (UK and US) to explore opportunities and develop appropriate knowledge.
• I was able to make an annual saving of £1.2M against a previous annual spend of £3.3M. I also worked on some ad-hoc software procurements.

September 2005 – August 2006; Procurement Manager (1 year fixed term contract) Computer Sciences Corporation, Chesterfield working on the “Royal Mail Group Outsourced IT contract.”
• I ensured the smooth and timely Procurement of all bought-in arrangements which were required to enable CSC to provide the contracted service.
• I had one direct report who managed the Service Delivery & Operations procurement requirements which were primarily ongoing requirements.
• I reshaped the focus on ongoing requirements and was able to take out £2 Million of spend against a recurring annual spend of £25 Million.
• I provided engagement models, for new business support and dealing with the Customer (Royal Mail Group).
• I was responsible for New Projects procurement. Projects that I was responsible for were Hand Held Scanners, Engineering Records System, Managed Print Service, Digital Tachograph Solutions and Time Recording Management System. Suppliers that I worked with included Spescom, Symbol, Business Objects, Siemens, IBM, Oracle, Crown Computing, NRG, and CA.
• I worked with the Applications team to ensure the correct management of Xansa who provided ADM services under the Prism Alliance.
• I also worked closely with the Telecoms team to ensure the correct management of BT who provided telecoms services under the Prism Alliance.
• The Prism Alliance was the means by which RMG had contracted for their outsourced contract.
• Overall spend responsibility was approaching £70 Million per annum.

January 2005 – August 2005; Senior Procurement Officer – Telecoms (temporary contract) Environment Agency, Bristol – covering national contracts, managing telecoms spend (£10M annually).
• Extensive use of OGC framework agreements was made. Suppliers I dealt with were BT, Cable & Wireless, Computacenter (G-Cat), Kingston Communications and Vodafone.
• I saved £420K per annum by renegotiating with BT what tariff the call spend came under.
• I also provided a roadmap for future consolidation of the telecoms contracts and a view to a potential outsourcing of the management and provision of telecoms to the Environment Agency.
• Additionally, I fulfilled the role of “mobile communications” expert given my wider experience in this area.

January 2004 – October 2004; Contracts Manager (temporary contract) Accenture, London & Leeds working on the NHS Program for IT, covering the North East and East.
• I negotiated contracts with leading IT suppliers in the healthcare industry. This required price negotiations, key legal clauses, SLA’s and service credits, as well as ensuring that the flow down terms from the National Health Service were put in place.
• I also negotiated with some of the main stream software suppliers such as Oracle, QAS, Citrix, Cognos, Informatica and Business Objects.
• All contracts were negotiated against an aggressive timetable, as the software was required for releases of functionality to the National Health Service.
• On one project, I was able to negotiate a contract for £3 Million against a projected expenditure of £15 Million. Total value of the contracts that I negotiated was approaching £60 Million in aggregate.

October 2003 – December 2003; Procurement Manager (temporary contract) National Health Service Program for IT, Leeds covering the North West and West Midlands areas.

• I managed the contractual processes, ensuring that the awarded contract was within the aggressive timescales that the Program had committed to the Government. This entailed pulling together a vast range of both commercial and technical documentation, as well as closely working with the Lawyers appointed to the Program. I closed out many risks and issues which were associated with each of the Bidding Suppliers.
• I set up the central data rooms which contained responses from the Bidding Suppliers for my own areas and also Eastern and Southern areas. I managed the data room staff during the Evaluation period.
• Throughout this period, I also provided feedback on the quality of Bidder responses (conformance) to the lead negotiation teams. I also provided a detailed report into the Data Room management and setting up for audit purposes.
• Key suppliers that I worked with were CSC, BT, IBM, EDS, Schlumberger Sema and Fujitsu.

February 2002 – December 2002; IT Procurement Consultant (temporary contract) Bombardier Transportation, Derby (UK) and Berlin (Germany) working on various worldwide IS Projects.
• I worked on the Global IS Outsourcing Project, key suppliers I worked with were EDS, CSC, IBM and HP/Accenture (joint bid).
• I negotiated and managed the global consultancy agreements (PWC, Accenture and Ernst Young) which were required to support the global role out of SAP.
• I negotiated software licenses for projects over 500,000 Euros worldwide. I negotiated a worldwide rollout of a Project Planning Tool (Primavera) and negotiated for an engineering design software product (Intec).
• I worked closely with the Global Operations Centers in Germany and Canada to explore further global software and services contracts. Two suppliers that I dealt with as part of this software procurement development were Microsoft and Oracle.

January 1998 – January 2002; Senior Procurement Professional IBM Customer Solutions Procurement, Nottingham “buying for various customer contracts” and IBM Global Services, Leeds working on the ASDA Outsourced IT operations contract
• I evolved the Nottingham role from a “Buy for Resale” one, to a role that was also bid support.
• I negotiated rates for professional services and software (bespoke, developed etc) as part of very large SI Projects. Types of Projects supported included B2B (e-Commerce), CRM, ERP and CATIA. I negotiated these agreements on both EMEA and worldwide scales.
• I also conducted hardware negotiations for large customer network rollouts.
• I covered a number of sectors, Manufacturing, Distribution (Retail/Travel & Transport), Financial, Telecommunications and Utilities.
• Key suppliers that I dealt with were Ariba, i2, Peoplesoft, Siebel, Storagetek, Maximo, Oracle and Dassault.
