Work Experience

Mr Clarke is an interim Manager who has over 25 years experience in industry. He has worked both in the UK and in Continental Europe and USA at a senior level developing strategies, managing operations and implementing change.
He has undertaken roles in Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Warehousing and Distribution, Planning, Purchasing, Transport, Hygiene, Industrial Engineering and Project Management. In addition he has introduced new systems and ways of working in Maintenance, Financial Management, Information Technology, Human Resources and as well as capital and change projects.
Assignments have been carried out in FMCG food drink & tobbacco, Utility companies, Ceramics, Domestic Appliances, Distribution, Cargo handling, Light Engineering.
He has spent considerable time assisting clients in developing and managing projects, conducting operation reviews to identify areas for improvement and managing in house teams and external contractors

Assignments and Achievements

· Implemented Extrusion technology plant for dry food coating to replace baked coatings for fish and meat products saving £800k per annum.
· Managed the introduction of frozen Pizza production facilities, developed from manual to automated production increasing output from 250 tonnes per year to 3000 tonnes per year.
· Introduced systems to reduced stock levels of raw and packaging materials from 4 weeks cover to 1 weeks cover at the same time reducing out of stock items and releasing space and capital needing to be employed.
· Successfully transferred production and packing facilities for breakfast cereal from Denmark to UK, the consolidation resulted in unit cost reduction of 20%.
· Implemented hardware and software and staff training for automated warehousing for 7000 pallet positions resulting in better control and reduced cost.
· Improved production planning using existing material requirements planning (MRP) system to reduce major item stocks from 4 weeks to 4 days and increased service levels from 92% to in excess of 98%.
· Implemented aspects of World Class manufacturing, cellular production teams, computerised product control, ITT for all manufactured and purchased goods, in a light Engineering company resulting in total supply chain cost reduction of 25%.
· Increased production of canned products from 60000 tonnes per year to 180000 tonnes per year savings in yield; labour, utilities, efficiency and maintenance reduced unit cost by 30%.
· Successfully implemented European Supply Chain ERP system including, Supply strategy, Supply and Demand planning, Manufacturing, transportation and storage, cost and financial management, for the worlds leading breakfast cereal manufacturer.
· Managed Business change and cost improvement on a pan European basis to yield £12 million pounds cost reduction annually for a leading pet foods group.
· Managed the direct input an output from a production site with 400 employees.

Set up and operate the operations and supply chain co-ordination centre located in Brussels for the merger of two large food companies. Manage the input and output of 16 factories located in 6 separate European Countries employing 2500 people with turnover of £1billion.
· Identify improvements that need to be made to cope with a changing situation, improve output or productivity and reduce cost by undertaking Operational Reviews.
· Integrate people, products, equipment system, and philosophies and reduce cost, improve quality and service.

Responsible for a team of managers and engineers of different nationalities located in their local countries who in turn were responsible for the manufacture and distribution of locally produced product under management guidance from the centre.
