OCCUPATIONAL EXPERIENCE

April 2005-Present - Senior PFI Project Team HR Manager (Head of Department),
PFI Project Team, Patient Support and Environment Directorate,
Newham NHS University Hospital Trust.

• Managed own work department and provided HR advice and support to PFI General Manager and service managers in relation to operational and strategic employment issues relating to the PFI scheme. Duties spanned the broad spectrum of employment issues and the implementation of policy.
• Contributed to the development of the Trust’s HR strategy, policies and plans to ensure effective service delivery. Developed new HR policies and procedures ensuring that arrangements are in place to support their effective implementation.
• Led and co-ordinated all HR aspects relating to implementation of the PFI Project.
• Produced a HR Strategy and timetable for the PFI Project ensuring impact of PFI and related staff issues were fully and effectively managed including TUPE, RoE, Consultation and Communication issues.
• Collated affected staff data with the PFI Partner, to ensure the effective implementation of staff changes. Led on the consultation with the Government Actuaries Department (GAD) relating to the pension provision of affected staff. Managed staff transfers from St Andrews Hospital to Newham General Hospital and supported changes to services.
• Produced and managed training and development framework for staff under PFI in liaison with Learning and Development Team and PFI Partner. Identified positives for PFI staff, manage the timing of the moves
• Managed the Gateway Surgical Centre HR work stream and attended the PFI Commissioning Review Board.
• Led on Employment Tribunals and working with highly complex and sensitive information; provided advice to Directors on the merits of Employment Tribunals and disciplinary matter and work closely with the Trust’s solicitors. Managed performance management, sickness absence and grievance cases including representing the Trust on Disciplinary Panels and Appeal Panels in relation to PFI staff.
• Attended the Formal Heads of Departments meetings as Head of NHS PFI Human Resources Department and attended PFI Commissioning Review Board meetings.
• Co-ordinated and Led on BEAM, Diversity and Equality, IWL and other strategic NHS projects. Attended Strategic Health Authority steering group and strategy leaders group meetings.
