Responsible for developing H3G’s online Financial Services and M-commerce team and businesses which are forecast to be core revenue drivers behind new 3G mobile services. My core areas of work to date have included:
Developing business strategy and financial planning
Recruiting and managing core FS team and wider cross-functional team of approx. 25 people
Leading the development of financial product and payment system definitions and functional requirements incl. applications architecture and system component mapping and design.
Implementation and launch planning for 2002
Leading partner development and negotiation with banking partners, content partners, software vendors and consultancies. This includes managing the end-to-end RFI, negotiation and contract completion process.
Supporting H3G global Financial Services and M-commerce development by helping other H3G geographies to develop a common European, and potentially global, set of requirements.

Secured funding from CGU board to develop and launch a new B2B internet auction house aimed at lowering costs and maximizing insurance salvage value by providing businesses with online access to great value surplus goods.
My responsibilities included:
Recruiting and leading the teams on each of the identified work streams

Working with corporate advisors on valuation/future flotation strategy
Brand, PR and IT agency selection
Partner development and contract negotiation with software vendors and consultancies, supply partners and distributors

Head of Market Strategy, CGUI
Senior strategic role within CGUI with responsibility for formulating business unit strategies to enable CGU to achieve sustainable competitive advantage. Role involved direct management of strategy team “virtual team” management across CGUI at Director level and managing a multi million external budget. My work included:
Developing a new strategic framework to analyse CGUI’s core insurance portfolio and to develop radical strategies designed to maximise shareholder value. This framework remains in place today as the core strategic planning and analysis tool.
Business planning with CGUI board on how to best implement the change programme.
Establishing a new strategic innovation programme designed to identify and launch new business ventures to give CGU access to new markets and revenue streams

Trading Unit Director, Commercial Union
Youngest operational director in CU with full P&L responsibility for running a £115M business unit, focused on developing CU’s business across several key industry sectors of the UK economy. Working on a 3 year + forward timescale, my overall responsibility was to maximise profitability, revenue and market share by:
Formulating and ensuring implementation of business unit strategy
Analysing and segmenting target markets to generate in-depth insights into key customer requirements and how best to tailor our product/service offering to meet them
Initiating and implementing innovative customer-driven product/service development programmes to open and exploit new markets
