Work Experience

Professional Experience:

YEAR COMPANY ROLE

2003 - 2006 : Conclusion: Bright Alley Interactive Communication. Managing Director.

Conclusion is the holding company of Bright Alley Interactive Communication (BAIC). In my role of MD I initially reshaped the organisation to become more client- and long-term focused. At the end of this period we merged with a Microsoft .Net development company and BAIC was regarded the 3rd best Internet Agency by the Emerce-community. In terms of Client Management and Consultancy here are a few of my accomplishments:

Nike Europe: Definition and co-construction of Nike.net and DM-process, the communication platform for Nike Retailers in Europe.
This included ongoing DM campaigns to 26 countries in 19 languages and strongly reduced the time-to-market of
new assortments and products;
Philips: A joint venture was created between Conclusion and Philips to market the Product Innovation Capability of Philips. My role was to develop the marketing strategy and support for this new venture: Conclusion Consulting Industry;
Shell: Definition and development of the communication platform between Shell Nederland and the franchise organisation.
Main objective was to reduce risks and costs for the distribution of new products, safety features and prices.
We also activated Shell V-Power online and created the kids-corner of Shell.com;
Human Capital When HCG was taken over from Deloitte, my role was to define the Internet Strategy for the group. I created several Group business propositions for the HR-portal HRServiceCenter.nl and was lead consultant in the development of the online
version of Het Nationaal BeloningsOnderzoek (NBO).

Other clients we managed and served were: Delta Lloyd, Koninklijke Marine, IDG Nederland, VEH, VVD and Maxxium Worldwide.

2001 – 2003 Visser Bay Anders Toscani (VBAT). Client Service Director.

VBAT is a Corporate Identity design agency. I was responsible for the unit Digital Branding where the identity projects were translated to online by providing services such as webdevelopment, viral and direct marketing, search engine marketing, mobile and other channels. This responsibility also comprised consulting and client management, of which some examples I’d like to present:

Nuon: Nuon recognised the fact that the only direct communication it had with end-customers was by invoice and the yearly
final statement. In order to become more client-focused the Altijd Nuon concept was created. I managed the development of the Altijd Nuon Online magazine, a multimedia website with games, articles, interviews, movies and viral elements. I also managed the development of the site GoedGeregeld, the Nuon brand for products and services;
SNS Bank VBAT won the rebranding project for SNS Reaal Group. A complete new identity was created (the kaleidoscope). The new visual identity implied the development of new digital brand assets as well. Together with a team of producers we created the new website, ATM screens, Messenger services, digital templates and mobile sites;
Campina The Mona and Vifit brands were separated from each other with the respective brand-essence “good taste” and “extra healthy”. With our Art Director I developed the new Vifit website and the extranet for nutrition consultants associated with the Campina Research Center.

Other clients managed and served were: Skyradio (webdevelopment), Vodafone (Live! introduction) and ING Bank (Inter- and Intranet).

YEAR COMPANY ROLE

1999 – 2001 Independent assignments. Business Consultant.

For approximately 2 years I engaged in several independent assignments in order to get a better business understanding and gain experience in concepts such as E-Business and E-Commerce. I created a knowledge network called The Collective that comprised of 11 independent consultants each having his or her own speciality (sales, marketing, legal, finance, ICT, quality etc.). This proved to be very useful during the following assignments:

The Big Picture The Big Picture specialised in Internet Business Strategy and was linked to the Twinning Center (early investment
fund, currently: Sienna Holdings Europe) and the University of Amsterdam. As Business Development Manager –ad interim, I reviewed business plans and business cases of new ventures, acquired new clients (Pont Meyer, Dikema & Chabot, Stork, BNR, Moneyou) and expanded the network of Venture Capital partners. The assignment ended when The Big Picture was taken over by Human-I (currently: Euro RSCG). I completed the following projects:
- Stork In order to simplify and accelerate the complicated product procedures and machine design processes, a plan was developed and funding acquired for an online collaborative workspace (extranet);
- Octopus Client management for the Octopus Business Concept. Octopus was defined to be the leading financial independent infomediary in the Netherlands. The concept was translated to The Floor, which ultimately was integrated in BNR;
- Unilever Client management for Lever Fabergé and project management for online affiliate marketing;
- NVGD Long long before Napster, Kazaa and other download-hypes existed, the NVGD (Nederlandse Vereniging voor de Grammofoon Detailhandel) investigated the possibility of paid downloads of entertainment content. I supported this research project and completed the final report. Due to the complex copyright restrictions the project was not funded;

ABN AMRO Bank With the upcoming millennium (Y2K) change, AAB engaged me in several Y2K business projects. These resulted in
several Client Interface Contingency measures in the event of a power-outage or loss of communication between clients and branches. Later I was assigned the role of Business Program Manager for the development of Cross Border Payment Products. My main objective was to develop an International Lockbox platform for efficient processing of cheques and the roll-out planning to all relevant countries.

1994 – 1999 James Martin + Co. Business Development / Consultant.

James Martin was one of the most active and published writers on the subject of ICT and Organisation from the early 70ties until the early 90ties. His Information Engineering methodology was one of the first to enable professionals to consistently translate business requirements to IT-definitions and is regarded as the basis for 4GL and CASE tools. James Martin + Co. was an international consulting company with its headquarters in Washington and European offices in London, Amsterdam and Paris. I joined JM+Co. as an Information Engineer (IT Consultant) and by quickly gaining experience was later graded as Senior Consultant and Business Development Manager.
5 years of intensive and international assignments that I truly enjoyed and of which I have highlighted the following:

KPN Telecom KPN HQ in Groningen initiated the implementation of Process Management, in order to facilitate projects such as
Probaat (project management process) and Orcade (implementation of the Oracle Application Development Environment). My role was to develop the processes and the organisational implementation of the Architect tools to support this. I provided over 150 (project) managers with training and support in both process and tools.
Belastingdienst Development and implementation of a Class Object Library for Oracle + PowerBuilder (4GL) to enhance the development of Rodos, the customs-control system of the Port of Rotterdam.
IBM Slovenia IBM was strongly associated with JM+Co. After I was invited by them to present James Martins IT vision for parts of the Slovenian government, I was assigned to define the marketing plan for IBM Slovenia supporting their turnaround from Product Company to Service Company.
General Re General Re (and Die Kölnische Rückversicherungen) implemented TSRM (The Systems Redevelopment Method).
I provided them with the process definitions based upon their architecture and provided training for their change managers in Berlin, Cologne and Munich.
Gantthead.com All Business and IT processes and supporting tools we created have been centralised in Gantthead.com, a project and process management portal that provides high-level services to IT professionals worldwide.
Business Dev. My business development role consisted of defining and selling commercial propositions such as CRM and Business Intelligence Services, TQM-, Process Management- and CMM projects. In my final year I supported the worldwide Siebel implementation for James Martin + co. and was responsible for several clients such as KPN, Centraal Boekhuis, Barclays Bank (UK) and Ericsson (SE).

1993 – 1994 Getronics Software. Technical Project Manager.

Getronics is nowadays called GetronicsPinkRoccade. Back then Getronics was a collection of IT Companies that had recently been joined and were discovering the application of 4 GL tools. This enabled me to support my study MIS with real-life experience.
I was technical project manager on projects created with PowerBuilder Sybase and PowerBuilder Oracle. During this period I worked for Laura Ashley Garment Merchandising (sales forecast system), Grandorado (reservation systems), and Holland International (Contracting Tariffs & Trade Management system).

1988 – 1994 During university I participated in several extracurricular activities. I supported Cost Accounting (BE) and Algorithms & Data structure lectures (MIS). I joined the network for International Economy and Law (VITE) and was Chief Editor of their monthly bulletin.
