2004-2005 FMC Technologies – Senior Sourcing Leader, with a global reach for Oil Industry Sub Sea Fabrications increased supply chain to cope with an increase in demand from 39 Xmas Tree’s in 2004 to 80 in 2005 with room for growth to 125 in 2006. Introduced a “Built for Growth” Programme, increasing capacity, transforming the supply chain based on vertical product integration with horizontal category specialisation. Separating Strategy from Tactical procurement introducing new suppliers, scheduling, framework agreements and Supplier Relationship Management to increase output and reduce costs.

2004-2004 Silicon Microsystems - Diageo Guinness Ultrasonic Drinks Project. Project Co-ordinator for Contracts, Purchasing, Supply Chain, Production, Quality Control of this new ultrasonic drinks agitator.

2004-2004 Supply Chain Manager - PVCu Door & Frame Mfc. – 10,000 units a week, focussed on actual orders, reorganised the stores layout, lineside deliveries, kanbans, introduce inventory accuracy, reduced materials shortages, implemented SLAs, relationship management and partnerships to turn a loss into profit.

2003-2003 Intel – Supply Chain Manager supported the implementation of world-class, hazardous materials Supply Chain. Organising dangerous gases and chemicals, from around the world, in daily "lean management" deliveries to the point of use for semi-conductor manufacture.

2002-2003 AXA Insurance – Contracts Review Project Risk management assessment of 70 contracts, each with a value in excess of £2 million. Reviewed Articles, Ownership Structures AXA and Supplier, Relationship Management, Management of the Contract, Supplier Suitability, Clause Quality, Risk Management, Remedial Action Plans, MI, Communications Plan, Performance Management and Benefits Tracking.

2000-2001 ICO Global Communications - Contracts Manager responsible for negotiating contracts with values of up to US$1 Billion for satellites, satellite launches, base stations, hand held user equipment, user terminals, support equipment, services, and saved $20 million, on one contract for a global company providing a world-wide roaming voice and data service.

2000-2001 Thorlock International – Operations Manager advising on an outsourcing partnership agreement for the manufacture, test, delivery, installation and after service support t of 4000 Security Scanners for a variety of airport baggage handling systems.

2000-2000 IOC Global Communications - Contracts Manager see above.

2000-2000 Cole & Mason T/o £12M - Purchasing & Supply Chain Manager implemented Partnership Sourcing and Consignment Stocking, to produce Pipeline Supply arrangements for the Retail Market, underwritten with new Business Agreements focused on Continuous Improvement. Overhauled MFG-PRO MRP II System with new procedures that organised weekly scheduling, regular implementation of Action Messages, Supplier Management, Shipping Documentation and Packing for Eastern European and Far Eastern Suppliers to improve deliveries and increase services levels to the high nineties. Reduced stock to £880K.

1999-1999 Thompson Organisation (Derwent Information) – Production Manager Productivity Improvement and Outsourcing for a Printing, Media and Knowledge Management company. Implemented a Continuous Improvement programme to bring a World Class manufacturing environment to a London office. The “Visual Office” where abnormalities can be seen at a glance offered initial annual savings of £250K. Future savings of £1 million plus identified.

1999-1999 Evode “Evostick” part of Ato Findley Operations and Logistics Project.

1999-1999 Westcode Semiconductors T/o £24M – Supply Chain Manager designed, produced, promoted and implemented a Supply Chain Partnership Programme. Organised tenders for 7 commodity groups and sold the benefits of single source “Consignment Stock” agreements to Westcode Management and suppliers. Visited North America, Asia and Europe to assess suppliers and negotiate direct material supply agreements. In 16 weeks reduced stock from £3M to £2.45M, projected to fall to £1.5M, reduced prices by up to 45% and negotiated a payments moratorium, which improved cash flow in 1999 by £500K.
1998-1998 CAE – Supply Chain Assignment to develop a Purchasing Plan, and implement Supplier ITT, RFP, Compliance Schedule and T&C’s for a £30 million tender.

1998-1998 Magnet – Production Control and Logistics Manager designing and implementing a Production Planning System, based on the visual factory, to provide 100% compliance to customer delivery requirement. Reviewed the supply chain and advised on implementing 5S in a production facility producing 500 PVCu windows a day.

1998-1998 Cardionetics – Operations Manager assignment to organise and implement the complete outsourcing of production and the supply chain with the implementation of a complete business system for this start-up company.

1998-1998 easy Jet – Outsourcing Project in easy Land, to subcontract the management and spares supply chain of maintenance support for 12 Boeing 737 aircraft coming in to service August 1998.

1997-1998 BTR Environmental – Production Control Manager assignment to improve manufacturing and spares operation. Implemented multi-skilling, waste reduction and improved the management of resources.

1997-1997 Cardionetics – Manufacturing Manager Advised and produced a manufacturing plan including supply chain management for a start up company in medical electronics with a business plan to grow from a standing start to £150M in five years.

1997-1997 Balfour Beatty Rail Purchasing Manager reorganised the Purchasing Department consisting of offices in London, Derby, Peterborough and Newcastle. Organised auction of machinery from Newcastle, Darlington, Norwich, Peterborough, and Hornsey Engineering Workshops. Responsible for the procurement of material for maintenance services projects, manufacturing and plant. Organised and procured all material for the Warrington Post Office and millennium Greenwich Signals projects. Interviewed successor to meet the challenges of the changing rail environment. Made savings of £200k.

1996-1997 Procurement Executive for British Aerospace procuring the entire major “A” class vendor parts for the A300B4 Passenger to Freighter Conversion Programme. Achieved 40% savings on individual parts with a total of $250K plus for each shipset.

1996-1996 Hanser Products – Works Manager Implemented manufacturing and supply chain improvements.

1996-1996 Managing Director for Abbot Electronics an assignment for a leading edge aerospace electronics division of Adwest, to organise the successful disposal of the company while keeping customers onboard and staff motivated. Responsible for Jaguar, Tornado & EFA programmes.

1995-1996 Hunting Aviation Head of Purchasing working on Dash 8, Saab and Jetstream aircraft interior programmes. Set up materials department planned the introduction of Supply Chain Management saving $8 million on one major contract.

1995-1995 General Management assignment for large capital equipment, car shredder manufacturer, improving profitability by improved planning and procurement saving £000's on materials costs.

1995-1995 Buko - Materials Directors – T/o £24M. Separated purchasing from manufacturing set up materials division. Initiated Materials Planning & JIT eliminating waste and inefficiency from the complete supply chain. Implemented immediate savings of £150k and identified further annual savings of a further £250k in material spend. Reduced cyclical annual stock by £500K.

1993-1993 ACW Technology – Operations Management assignment to Data Comms Contract Manufacturer.

1993-1993 Production Directors assignment to Electro-Optical manufacturer and Stanley. Bench marked current performance against best in the class.

1992-1992 Project Management assignment for CMB Speciality Packaging. Designed library to hold £20m of film and copy, from three manufacturing locations. Installed fire, security and materials handling systems. Refurbished buildings and designed computer control systems.

1991-1992 Business Development Project for a Portals Group Company producing Insullation and Fire Protection Products for the Oil Industry.

1991-1991 Manufacturing Project Management assignment for Loral Solartron in Enfield. Production Control and layout for Laser Guided Tank Attack Simulator and family of products.
1990-1990 Materials & Quality Management assignment for CMB. Reduced scrap rate on one line from over 5000 to fewer than 500 a day, resulting in savings of £4,500 a day. Total weekly savings of £40K a week.

1988-1990 Operations Director for Millhouse Design Systems data comms specialist in connectivity. Set up subcontract supplier base.

1987-1988 Customer Service & Repair Centre Manager for Fujitsu Europe. Expanded class 10 clean room for the production repair of 8" and 10.5" Winchester disk drives.

1987-1987 Production Directors assignment for Almex part of the Swedish Incentive Group. Identified the major changes necessary to significantly improve performance. Increasing the output of one unit from 4 to 33 a day, a productivity improvement of 800%.

CAREER

1986-1987 Hitachi T/o £24bn multinational electronics group.

1986-1987: 1986-1987: Production Control Executive
Total responsibility for the materials management of an annual spend of £100M, 140 deliveries 400 items daily. Reduced manpower costs by installing carousels, rationalised stock, reduced stores area by 20K sq ft. Reduced total inventory to 1.12 months or £9.33M by cutting production lead-time from 30 to 10 days and shortages cut 7000 to 500. Managed computer system change from IBM COPICS to Hewlett Packard 3000 Man Man system. Involved in TQM team, 5S, JIT, team briefing and small group activities.


1981-1986 GEC – Marconi (McMichaels) T/o £5bn, multinational electronics group.

1982-1986: Divisional General Manager
P&L responsibility for £6m manufacturing division including installation and commissioning, 200 staff reporting to MD. Achieved 60% increased in business and profits during the period. Responsible for the Post Design Service Department.

1981-1982: Production Manager
Established a production team, prime and second source facilities for the manufacture of the Stingray Lightweight Airborne Torpedo Autopilot. Setting up the second source at Marconi’s Hillend production facility in Scotland. Project Managed Nimrod Sonar Buoy Transmitter & Responder

1980 -1981 Wormald T/o £200m, international electronics group.

1980 –1981: Works Manager
Recruited to restructure & re-organise the manufacturing division. Reporting to the General Manager, 250 staff. Introduced manufacturing computer system MRP I. Improving productivity by relaying out the stores and production assembly areas. Introduced production engineering and reorganised the test department with a 50% increase in output producing Oil Rig Fire Control Panels for the Oil Industry.

Recruited to organise the materials & production management of this diesel engine manufacturer.

1976-1979 EMI T/o £2bn, multinational electronics group.

1977-1979: Materials Manager
Recruited to organise the materials management function including purchasing of the Body Scanner Division. Reporting to GM 80 staff. Developed and conducted divisional materials operations and strategy.

1976-1977: Materials Controller
Formed materials group; organised department including manual scheduling and instituted IMS MRPI computerised materials management system.

1973-1976 Schlumberger T/o $8bn, multinational electronics group.

1973-1976: Production Control Manager
Head of production control department, implemented MRP I, reporting to Operations Manager,10 staff. Successfully integrated new part numbering system, parts lists, BOM and materialsscheduling MRP 1.

Efficiently managed manufacturing organisation of the Laser Guided Tank Attack Simfire Simulator from £250k in 1970 to £10m output in 1973.
