2001- 2003. Interim Operations / QA Manager, Guinness, Dundalk, Ireland, Interim Manager whilst change management programme implemented. Managed 24/7 team, & Systems Admin [All ISO 9002 & Environmental ISO 14000], continuous improvement, and standard setting. This was a hands on role in operations, which entailed managing day-to-day production standards. I also managed the regular formal Operations Meeting, which measures and drives performance (KPI’s) over time. Produced technical Business Plan. Successfully introduced Smithwick’s Ale to Dundalk, as well as new processes, and equipment.
A sense of fun is definitely necessary to adapt to Irish culture.

He is thus very familiar with mixing the commercial and technical need of a business to generate clear recommendations, rational conclusions, and accurate technical judgements.

A traditional family owned business [Manufacture of speciality flavours] Key Account experience, gained & maintained core accounts. Business to business sales especially for savoury, convenience & bakery applications.

1996 – 1998 Senior Consultant CPL Scientific Information Services Ltd. Newbury.

Technical and marketing consultancy with specific food and drink expertise. Sales and presentations to clients especially focused on the impact of technical change in the market, whilst delivering projects to demanding schedules.

1991 – 1996. Business Development British Sugar Group - ABR Foods (93 - 96).

To ensure and maintain the sales order process and despatch was well focused on the customer. Improved margins by identifying product differentiation, and achieved an average 15% extra volume sales.
To provide market analysis, build a customer database, and prioritise resource for technical applications, and sales support. Produced agreed company 3-year plan.




1991 – 1993 British Sugar HQ Peterborough, Corporate planning and development.
This required detailed interpretation of the legal, regulatory, and environmental factors on various food ingredient products in UK & Overseas markets.

1986 – 1990 Technical Manager Elders Malt Ltd.
Managed technical performance, and logistical requirements as business grew from start-up to 150,000 tonnes. Introduced Quality systems and managed the performance and yield of 11 plants.

1985 – 1986 Senior Consultant Ovaltine - Wander Ltd
Managed & commissioned world's largest malt extract plant. Optimised and improved process to increase yields.

1974 – 1985 Technical / QA Manager Whitbread & Co.

1982 – 1985 Technical Manager
Managed franchise brewing standards. Merged two brewing plants in Belgium without loss of output or quality

1979 – 1982 QA Manager. International experience in auditing plants, technical standards, hygiene and systems methodology. Product Manager, assessment of product, packaging and raw material specifications. Avoided US Federal ban by prompt action.

1974 – 1978 Production Manager. Setting and balancing priorities to achieve budgeted targets. Changed working practices, and implemented technology transfer Managed 7 day shift work force.

1971 – 1974 Shift / Project Manager. Bass Brewing
Introduced leading edge production technique [high gravity brewing] to Bass.
