During 2007

European manufacturing Strategy development. Due to expected growth was part of the projectgroup to develop a manufacturing strategy within Europe.


Business Implementation ( 01-07-05 till January 2008)
I have set up a joint manufacturing implementation in Turkey with a Turkish Packaging Company. Later this was turned in to a joint venture. I lead this project, which meant relocation of manufacturing from the Uk to Turkey and all wich goes with that.

Operations Director Dutch Plant (16-01-03 till 01-07-05)

In this Role I was member of the European Manufacturing Steering committee
I reduced the need for working capital to 50% of what it used to be.
I reduced the complaints to 30% of what it used to be, by implementing feedback and communication regarding complaints
I co-initiated and implemented a restructuring which included a redundancy of 16% of the workforce.
Improved health and safety awareness (there was very old and hazardous machinery present)
I implemented health and safety systems
I made the manufacturing budgets and made a long term manufacturing plan
I set up a KPI measurement system to monitor performance within the company.

I have had my own training company focusing on E-Strategy and implementation of internet activities for companies and organisations.

I stopped my activities in 2003 because during that period economic activities dropped and the burst of the internet-bubble made it an enterprise which didn’t have enough revenues.

NSD Labelling Group (April 1998- December 2002)

Managing Director of Labelsandstuff.com (for 2 years)

Labelsandstuff.com was founded by the NSD Labelling Group in 2000 as an e-business solution for the procurement of Print-work on the internet. The unique part of the website is that it radically changed the way Print work is being purchased by customers: it is done quicker, at lower cost and higher quality. This is the case for the customer but also for Labelsandstuff.com.

I have set up the concept, did the project management and was Managing Director. Labelsandstuff.com was runner-up of the “Gouden Z-award” 2001. The Gouden Z-award is the “Oscar” for the print industry in the Netherlands.

Business Unit Manager (for 2 years)

I have been Business Unit Manager for a business unit making labels for the Automotive Industry and the promotional market. This business unit was set up after a restructuring which introduced World Class Manufacturing techniques.

During that time:
I was member of the Management Team
I personally dealt with the biggest Automotive account which was 20 % of the business for that business Unit.
I initiated and lead a project for automation of the process to calculate workload per day.

Avery Dennison (01-01-97 till 01-02-98)

Avery Dennison produces world-wide self adhesive materials, labels, tags, printing machines to imprint labels, labelling machines and office supplies (primarily personal filing systems).

Production Manager:

For the Business Unit Roll-labels I was responsible for the Rotative Flexo gravure production of labels on rolls. Examples of results which were accomplished under my responsibility:

Reorganisation of the production (To multifunctional jobs) the substantial overtime in the business unit (100-500 hours per month) reduced to practically 0, The delivery performance climbed from 80- 90 % to 95%-100%, the utilisation of the machines climbed with 15 % and the delivery time was brought back with 10 days to 5-7 days.
Improvement of tooling. Essential for the production of labels is perfect die-cut tools because the lack of a systematic way of working with the tools before, during and after production there was a lot of downtime a therefore frustration in the production By means of a project group (participation of management, operators, and the order preparation) the problem was successfully solved.
Started with the implementation of empowered teams in production. By means of open management communication getting people more involved in company goals and feeling more responsible for their acting in the organisation. This leads to more focus on targets, more flexibility and at the end better results.

Elopak B.V. (July 1995 till December 1996)

Elopak B.V. in Terneuzen Holland produces packaging solutions according the “Pure-Pak principal”. This packaging is better known as the Milk Carton. Elopak produces in Holland in rotation print in Offset and Flexo these Pure-packs. The Head Office is based in Norway.


Offset Logistic Control Manager

I was responsible for the internal logistic activities which took place for the offset production of these packaging materials. I managed the planning department and the group involved in international order processing.

Besides that I have managed the following projects:

Outsourcing; The building of a system for long term outsourcing of a 2-liter package (2.5 million products per month). Which meant, the selection of a finisher, implement hygiene procedures, logistics and the set up of an ordering system.
The adjustment of the Computer system so one was able to live up to the demands which modern multinationals have for there suppliers.
Coordinating the tests of new developed products on production machines.
Stace Print Europe B.V. (February 1992 till June 1995)

Stace Print Europe B.V. produces primarily print work for the music industry like cd-booklets and music cassette-inlays. The major part of their products is produced for the record company EMI which was the former owner of the printing company.

Jobs as trainee:

1) Project coordinator : In approximately 9 months we achieved the
Quality project ISO-9002 certificate.
2) Planner : Making the daily planning of the printing department.
(3 months) Most of the print work had to be delivered within 36 hours.
3) Head of finishing : Being responsible for 40-50 people and the operations,
(3 months) replacing the absent manager.
4) Quality manager : Continuing the quality-system after achieving
(12 months) the ISO-9002 certificate.
5) Project coordinator : Leading a temporarily group to achieve a substantial
(3 months) Quality improvement. The number of complaints decreased after this project with more than 50 %.
6) Account-manager : For the biggest account of Stace Print Europe
(replacement) B.V. (then ? \ 9 million turnover). I have kept
day to day contact (daily visiting). Within the organisation of this account


After this traineeship I became appointed:

Head of works office : This department had 9 employees and was responsible for, planning, overview on production progress,
order processing for the music industry and development of the quality system.

Important improvement projects which I lead:

Quality system during my career with Stace Print the company successfully prolonged the ISO-9002 certificate twice.
DCC print work; design of the process for the making of DCC Print Work.
By redividing the activities in the finishing department a higher output was achieved.
A Project to improve the product-information within the organisation.
I invented a different production method for one of the products so the production time could substantially be shortened and material use was much less
Improvement of the computer information system for logistic and production information.

My career has started as a qualitymanager in a printing business and my latest challenge has been the joint setup and implementation of the European expansion Strategy for a productline within a multinational fortune 500 pacakging company. In between I have been active as worksofficemanager, key account manager, Business Unit Manager and Operations Diretor. My work experience therefore covers a wide range of disciplines.

In my role as member of the management team in several companies I have always approached the business as a whole with a customer focused way of handling.

My passion lies within business strategy development and implementation. Next to that Interim jobs were change management focus is needed appeal to me as well. I am a pioneer able to get the people aboard heading for the new to come. A pure manufacturing role would would not be the best choice right now, however a business role where my operations background is an asset would fit perfect.

I have a multinational experience and I have enjoyed the business travelling which goes with that.
