The Cardale Group
Cardale Group is the UK\'s largest manufacturer of garage doors. Growth has been through acquisition and the Logistics function is fragmented. My responsibility was to strategise and develop Logistics policy and to centralise the Group logistics. Reporting to the Group Operations Director, I introduced KPIs and operating tactics whilst preparing the strategy/vision. My strategy, with the potential to save £600k pa, was approved by the business. The achieved operational tactical savings were approx £90k in 2002 and I successfully planned and launched home delivery for B&Q.
Argos Direct
A member of the GUS Group, I worked with Argos on an interim basis from September to December 2001 co-ordinating activities between the suppler and the National Distribution Centre. My role as Key Supplier Manager was to ensure that new products and key catalogue lines were supplied on time, in full, to support sales fulfilment in the critical pre-Xmas trading period. Responsible for devising the strategy and it\'s application, I co-ordinated key suppliers and Argos making sure that the supply chain was robust and deliverable. I improved the OTIF (On Time In Full) performance from 80% to 95% by the introduction of supplier Key Performance Indicators and the application of responsible and collaborative supplier partnership. Toward the end of my contract, I co-ordinated the launch of their first range of \"take away\" kitchens from supply through product training and delivery strategy.
Wickes Building Supplies
I held three jobs in Wickes over eight years, starting as Supply Chain Manager, Service Operations Manager and then my last position as Home Delivery Controller. The whole of my Wickes career was spent in the Home Delivery Division. The Home Delivery Centre supplies Showroom sold Kitchens, Bedrooms and Conservatories direct to the customers throughout the UK. I consider my greatest achievements were building the Home Delivery Division from a Porta-Cabin with 20 colleagues to an 180,000 sqft site employing 280 inside five years and always beating the competition on customer delivery lead-times.
Gemma Designs
Based in Andover, Hants, Gemma Designs are in the Greeting Cards market specialising in the Children\'s sector, supplying Multiples and Independents. I managed the key activities of Logistics, IT, Property, planning and Purchasing.
Whitworths
Based in Wellingborough, Northants, Whitworths supply the Grocery and Baking markets with Dried Fruit, Flour and Dried Vegetables. At the time I joined, Napier Brown had just acquired the company. My job was to act as an \"internal consultant\" in managing business processes as identified by the holding company and to contribute to, and implement strategy.
Mattel
Based in Leicester, Mattel supplies toys to Multiples and Independents. I ran the Sales Administration and provided support based sales management procedures/system re-engineering.
Walkers Crisps
Based in Leicester, Walkers Crisps supply snacks to Multiples, Caterers, Cash& Carries, Leisure and Independent markets. My responsibilies included the complete re-write of the sales support systems.
Tibbett & Britten
Based in Leicester, T&B provided a hanging garment logistics provision for the Clothing Manufacturing industry though a network of discrete centres. I provided the complete interface between the depot and the customer and bridging to the depot network.
