Managing Director

Outrade.com is a start-up providing hosted Email, Unified Messaging and Unified Communications to the ISP, Telco and Corporate sectors. First established in France, the UK subsidiary was set up in June 2000. The Managing Director role was the first to be recruited and reports directly into the CEO. During March – June 2001 the company experienced a severe cash flow crisis resulting in employees not being paid. Despite low morale the UK team has continued to function demonstrating impressive loyalty.

· Achievements
· Produced UK business plan which included market segmentation and market strategy
· Sales collateral and website redesigned.
· Team of 10 recruited both sales and technical .
· Channel partners identified, approached and established these include Openwave and HP
· Numerous press interviews and articles published this included coverage in The Independent, Communications News, Network News, Computing, It Week.
· £20m Pipeline of new business established with ISP’s etc…
· First Customer acceptance. Acheived with a start up Business ISP
· 2001 budgets and targets agreed with CEO
· Took on role of COO with added responsibility of French operation which comprises of 25 people based in Paris

April 1998 – April 2000 Syntegra.co.uk (formerly Control Data Systems) UK
Managing Director

· Control Data was acquired by Syntegra in September 1999

Control Data were a professional sevices company, focussed its business on the growth in E-Commerce, exploiting its industry leading messaging and directory centric product set.
The MD role involved total responsibility for the UK organisation (revenues of £6m) , with a brief to re-energise the business following an unsuccessful period.
Secondary role as European Business Manager, Outsourcing Solutions (messaging and directories) with a remit to develop the existing UK based infrastructure into a profitable European Business to enable the company to balance its revenue profile with less reliance on product sales.

· Achievements
· Overcame the ending of a dominant contract (75% revenue stream) with no overall revenue loss from previous year
· Added two more major contracts with a small telecommunications company and a large government organisation
· Won a major French based messaging outsourcing contract worth £2m
· Re focused and restructured the business around a market lead business plan.

September1996 – April 1998 Bellamy Business Consulting BV Europe


Interim Management – BT Syncordia 18 months
· With two associates took complete responsibility for a £350m Outsourcing Contract.
· Achieved live status and renegotiated terms
· Restructured the team
· Improved working relationship with client. By establishing clear lines of communications between the organisations and re -Focusing on original business objectives which had been forgotten in the numerous technical and commercial discussions.

· Direct control of a subsidiary contract value £12m
· Averted contract cancelleation

April 1994 – September 1996 Unisource Business Networks Europe
Director, WorldPartner Relations
As part of it’s plans to merge with AT&T Europe, Unisource joined WorldPartners as a shareholder alongside AT&T, Singapore Telecom and KDD of Japan. At short notice was asked to be the interface to WorldPartners for all operational areas. These included
· Managing European sales support operations comprising of 20 staff in Netherlands, UK, Switzerland
· Represented Unisource on WorldPartner global committees
· Developed Global Bid Management Procedures
· Led a successful bid team for the largest global telecommunications outsourcing contract worth in excess of £200m
· Multi-cultural and multi-national experience


Director, Bid Management
· Established Bid Management Function to respond to major multi-million dollar outsourcing bids.
· Established the Bid Review Board, made up of the senior management team. This team met on a regular basis to review all bids in production, and discuss and manage the inherent risk items in such bids. The go / no go decisions were made by this board.

Manager, Business Development
· Successfully negotiated a joint venture agreement with French IT company, the first Unisource European partner.


March 1993 – April 1994 Self Employed Europe
Product Management – Unisource Business Networks
· Developed Telecommunications Outsourcing Product Plan for Unisource, with particular emphasis on new markets UK, France and Germany. The target revenues were in excess of £180m within 3 years.
· Negotiated an agreement for Unisource to acquire the European Network of a significant partner in exchange for IT business of the parents. The annual revenue for the network was £30m per annum. This was presented to the JEC and agreed by two of the shareholders but not the third and therefore did not proceed.


March 1978 – February 1993 AT&T Istel UK
Istel, then one of the UK’s fastest growing IT services companies was acquired by AT&T in 1989.

European Product Director, Outsourcing
· Developed Outsourcing Product Plan to establish AT&T Istel as a leading IT outsourcing service provider. The plan was to leverage capabilities of AT&T Istel’s UK Data Centres and build Outsourcing services into the European acquisition strategy.
· Managed P&L responsibility of the business stream and each contract. New business contracts won had a total value of c£20m
· Headed Large contract bid teams


Strategic Planning Director - Information Processing Division
· Identified new, or enhancements to existing, services
· Implemented technical strategy for Data Centres
· Managed £9m per annum hardware and software budget
· Negotiated purchasing and leasing for IBM mainframe and Digital based hardware and software
