Work Experience

Project Manager – September 2000 – January 2002:
Strategic Logistics review Kerry foods
Transfer of Vodafone Logistics to another carrier
Review of warehousing for Modo Papers
Strategic Logistics and implementation of new service provider ITV Digital

Managing Director, V&F Monaco Motors Ltd. July 1996 – September 2000: When BET was the subject of a hostile takeover bid, I left and bought a Kensington based Volkswagen dealership. This was a unique opportunity to save a 45 year old business by taking firm and decisive control to re-establish the customer base and customer service level in a highly competitive environment. The business now boasts an acquisition, a trebling of turn-over and a substantial increase in profitability.

Group Consultant, BET October 1995 - June 1996: I joined BET as an internal consultant to the Groups Companies in October 1995, assisting profit centre management teams in achieving their growth agendas and continuing improvements in cost productivity. Success in working with the MD\'s, improving their marketing and business processes, was evidenced by higher margins and improved service and customer satisfaction. I specialised in the consultancy relationship with the distribution sector, a worldwide business of £600 million.

Major projects I was responsible for:

1. A strategic review of United Transport (UK) Ltd in conjunction with the Board, preparing and delivering numerous presentations.
2. Managing tender processes, including formulation and presentation of European distribution solutions for Dupont and SAPPI Europe.
3. Investigating cost reduction opportunities and proposing modified commercial strategies for the French distribution businesses.
4. A strategic review for a Parisian merchant bank on mergers/acquisitions and MBO/MBI’s.

Development Director, WRM Logistics April 1994 - October 1995:
This company was formed by 3 ex-directors of Hays Distribution Services. I joined them as Business Development Director, managing £5m distribution tender submissions to Plc\'s, acquisition studies in France, and a logistics buy out generating £350k annual management fee. I became a board member of five acquired companies during the time in which the group grew from £5m to £35m, backed by city funding, and I assisted in the integration of the companies into a single culture.

Divisional Director, Hays Distribution Services Ltd, March 1991 - April 1994: I was responsible for business development and information systems, defining strategy and managing tenders, with multi disciplinary teams, for Yoplait, Dairy Crest, Van den Burgh, Booker, Tesco, Bridgestone Firestone and Ford of Europe. I also managed a systems review in France for an acquisition study, the strategic review of a Division, a systems review for Hays\' Network distribution, and preparatory work for the systems and start up of a composite warehouse for Waitrose. I was responsible for the systems strategy of the Division and chaired the Hays European Systems Logistics Project Group.

Manager, A T Kearney, London. September 1987 - February 1991: from Senior Consultant to Manager, responsible for product development, client accounts and core service management in supply chain businesses. I worked on assignments for:

1. Hays Distribution Services Ltd.
2. Coca-Cola Schweppes.
3. Department of Trade and Industry.
4. Atco Lawn Mowers.
5. MK Electric.

Information Services Manager, BT Fulcrum September 1985 - August 1981: Electronic repair facility of the Customer Service Division of British Telecom. I managed a capital expenditure and development budget of £3m, formulating and implementing information systems strategy at the head of a team of 27, achieving 20% reduction in shop floor operating costs. Prior to that, as Materials Manager with a staff of 131, I was responsible for production control, purchasing, inventory, management systems, materials management, a BS5750 implementation team and a data integrity/audit team. I negotiated the transfer of the distribution operation to a sub contractor, with an annual saving of £730k.

1984 to 1985 Thomson-CSF, Paris: A medical scanning equipment manufacturer. From MIS Manager to Divisional MIS Manager, Manufacturing: responsible for all systems implemented across 10 sites in Europe.
1981 to 1984 Thomson CSF Telephone, France: An electronic equipment manufacturer. From Production Control Manager to Assets Manager: Responsible for implementing an MRPII system in 10 months.
1979 to 1981 Burroughs Machines, Croydon: An electronics equipment manufacturer. From Manufacturing System Analyst to Production Control Supervisor.
