1. GBC / Acco Brands Benelux BV from 01-10-2002 till 31-12-2007.
Job: Regional Logistics & Distribution manager
GBC is an American company for office supplies with the European headquarter in Brussels. The largest warehouse is located in Born. From this warehouse customers in North, Central and East Europe receive the goods (including spare parts). Since 2005 we also deliver to customers in Africa. On incidental basis goods are shipped to all parts of the world. The origin of incoming goods is for 90% the far east and therefore Acco in Born has since 2004 a status of bonded warehouse (postponement of paying import duties).
Tasks and responsibilities:
- direct leadership to 4 supervisors and indirect to 35 employees. The number has grown last year to 8 supervisors and about 120 employees
- P & L responsible
- prepare proposals for investments
- contact with sales directors and product managers in Europe
- contact and negotiations with key accounts
- permanent analysis of processes
- part of management team
- have negotiations with forwarders (national and international, from parcel till FTL) and other suppliers on basis of a tender
- set up the start of a WMS project for a new warehouse
- involved in purchasing warehouse racking, material handling machines, warehouse trucks etc
Results:
- improve organisation structure of the warehouse (including redundancies)
- reduction number of people who are leaving (from an average of 3 to 1 per year)

2. TDG BV (logistic service provider) from 01-05-2001 till 01-06-2002
I was working as an Operations Manager and responsible for Warehouse, Transport and VAL activities.
The warehouse has 5 customers for which they do the logistic service (warehouse and transport). For 2 of the customers we did also VAL activities.
For the transport activity TDG has about 150 customers. Transport is in this case distribution through the Netherlands and Belgium on daily basis with 22 trucks.
Tasks and responsibilities:
- P & L responsible
- direct leadership to 5 supervisors, indirect to 100 employees
- analyse weekly and monthly figures
- make calculations and negotiate for warehouse, transport and VAL activities
- start project to be able that customers send in their transport orders with EDI
- set up of a periodically report and KPI’s for warehouse and transport
- optimisation of WMS
Results:
- optimise the fill rate of the trucks on permanent basis
- improvement policy regarding transport prices
- stock accuracy almost 100%
- high service level of 99,5%


3. Nabuurs Logistiek BV (logistic service provider) from 01-09-1998 till 01-05-2001
Job: DC - manager cold store warehouse.
The cold store warehouse had a cross docking and storage function for food products. Part of the employees worked in a day shift, part in a 3 shift pattern.
Direct leadership to 3 supervisors and the admin department (5 employees). Indirect leadership to 40 employees.
Tasks and responsibilities:
- leading departments cross docking, cold store, packing, admin
- external contact with customers (warehouse and transport)
- meetings with potential new customers for the warehouse
- implementation and work with HACCP (certificate for food industry)
- integration of transport planning in the warehouse
- analyse financial figures
Results:
- improve the financial result with 20% in almost 3 year (realised on the cost side)
- implementation HACCP
- implementation of transport department in the warehouse

4. Alumax Extrusions BV from 01-07-1992 till 01-09-1998
Job: manager Materials Handling – departments packing, storage and shipping.
Alumax (nowadays Alcoa) is a company with an extrusion process for aluminium profiles (blank, anodised or coated) used for doors, windows, sunscreens etc.
Work is done in 3 shifts. Direct leadership to 3 supervisors. 1 admin and 2 employees for transport planning. Transport is fully outsourced. Indirect leadership to 45 persons.
Tasks and responsibilities:
- realise targets
- set up of projects regarding TQM (separate TQM team)
- improve and stimulate labour conditions and health & safety (separate team)
- describe procedures and instructions for ISO certification
- create KPI’s and work with them. Also set up a monthly report
- decrease number of complaints and claims
Results:
- realise targets
- reduction of the inventory level of packing material with 60%
- improve that employees focus on quality instead of quantity
- register packing instructions on a drawing (uniformity of packing)


5. Triumph International BV from 16-02-1986 till 01-07-1992
Job: headman of distribution centre – responsible for goods in, storage, order picking, packing/control, shipping and VAL activities.
Triumph is world market leader for ladies underwear, nightwear, bath- and sports clothes. The dc for Benelux was situated in Bladel.
Direct leadership to 3 supervisors and indirect to 35 employees
Started in the department planning I was responsible for the planning of products and the administration of goods receiving.
After about 2,5 years I became headman of the warehouse and was responsible for:
- daily shipment of the orders
- leading the whole warehouse
- calculation of capacity of human force and equipment
- calculation of (cost-) prices for VAL – activities
- analysing transport costs
Results:
- high SLA to key accounts of 99%
- deliveries without mistakes
- high control of workload during promo activities,
delivery of new collections
Transport was fully outsourced but I did the negotiations with the forwarders.

6. Leonard Lang Eindhoven BV from 01-02-01984 till 16-02-1986
Job: administrator – responsible for total bookkeeping including balance sheet and
P & L. Leonard Lang was also responsible for distribution of spare parts and here has started my logistical fascination.
